How Neon Logistics covers 2,500 loads a month with confidence

Ryan Busby built his team’s pricing and coverage routine around the Truckstop Load Board.

“Truckstop is my go-to when I need to secure capacity and the best rates.”

– Ryan Busby, VP of Operations, Neon Logistics

Ryan Busby is the VP of operations at Neon Logistics, a third-party logistics company based in Scottsdale, Arizona, with a growing open deck and heavy haul operation. With more than 12 years in logistics, Ryan has watched the market get harder to work in. Carriers shop his loads for better rates and fall off at the last minute. Rates are easy to misjudge. And fraud keeps showing up across the industry.

His team posts around 2,500 loads a month, and every one of them runs through Truckstop. That consistency is on purpose. Ryan trains his sales and carrier reps to price from data, cover from visibility, and lean on the load board as the first stop in their day.

Confident quoting starts with paid-in rate data

The fastest way to lose money in this market is to underquote a load, so Ryan built his team’s pricing around real numbers instead of gut feel. Rate Insights is the tool he trains on first. “Rate Insights is crucial,” Ryan said. “It’s my number one training tool that I use when I train sales reps and carrier reps to find rates.”

The paid rate report section is very important. I think that provides a better realistic insight to what lanes are actually going for.”

On a recent Phoenix to Los Angeles lane, the paid-in reports showed the lane running around $625. Neon booked the truck at close to $600, higher than the softer numbers other quoting tools were showing. Ryan says the paid-in data is why he holds his rate with confidence. “I feel 100 percent confident,” he said.

Load visibility shows the team how hard to push

Covering a load quickly comes down to knowing how much interest it is drawing, and that is where the load board earns its place in Ryan’s day. “Truckstop shows up most in our workflow every day on every load we post,” Ryan said. “There’s not a load that goes on to our load board that’s not touched by Truckstop.”

The load board helps us cover loads by giving us view data, so we know how much traffic that load generated. And that’s who we usually end up calling to secure capacity.”

The load manager view is where his brokers track carrier attention on each posting. It shows impressions, summary clicks, and carrier views, so a rep can see at a glance how much pull a load has. That read tells a rep how aggressive to be to cover a load, so the team knows the work up front instead of guessing at it. “The visibility that Truckstop offers really is an advantage compared to competitors,” Ryan said.

One click from the TMS to the load board

Speed only helps if it fits how the team already works, and Ryan’s setup keeps posting from getting in anyone’s way. “As soon as we get a load, my operations team will post through the TMS, and it goes directly to the Truckstop load board,” Ryan said. Once a load is quoted and secured from the customer, the operations rep uses the Truckstop TMS integration to post it in a single step.

Just by a click of a button, the operations rep posts it right from the TMS and it goes straight into the Truckstop system. So it’s a pretty simple, seamless approach.”

The team has also started leaning on Load Boost for its harder loads. For a small flat fee, a rep can push a single posting to the top of carrier search results for a set window, rather than reposting or bumping the rate. Truckstop’s data shows a boosted load draws 39 times more carrier clicks per minute than an unboosted one. Boosted loads carry a clear label and still respect every carrier filter, so the placement stays transparent. For Ryan, the early draw is simple — it saves his reps from refreshing a post by hand.

A stronger footing against freight fraud

For Ryan, deciding who hauls a load is his own call, and he makes it with Truckstop data in front of him. Before his reps commit to a carrier, they open the carrier profile. “To help me find trusted freight, we use the carrier profile that Truckstop offers,” Ryan said. “When you see a view from a carrier, you can go into their profile and see if they’ve had any accidents, so you can see their safety scores.”

I think a big competitive edge is that fraud aspect of it. Fraud is running rampant. Being in logistics for 12 plus years, I’ve never had any fraud issues with Truckstop carriers that we’ve secured from my knowledge.”

Turning visibility into trusted coverage

For Ryan, the value is steady and simple. Data-backed pricing, load visibility, and a posting flow that fits his team’s day let Neon Logistics cover freight faster and serve customers the way they expect. “Truckstop helps us secure capacity quicker and helps service our customers the way they expect to avoid fraud,” Ryan said.

For a team moving thousands of loads a month, that mix of confidence and speed is what keeps the freight, and the customers, moving.
