What’s your company background?

GPS Insight was founded in 2005. Founder and CEO Rob Donat was a technology consultant at the time and was approached by a local trucking company that wanted assistance in finding a GPS tracking solution to meet their needs. Rob researched all of the companies in the space and found that none of them could meet his client’s needs without having to pay for extensive customizations.

Rob saw this gap in the market as an opportunity and created GPS Insight as the first custom-tailored GPS tracking solution for commercial and government fleets. GPS Insight recognized the need many customers had for electronic driver logs and first entered the market in 2013, with the latest version released at the beginning of 2017.

GPS Insight offers fleets the opportunity to reduce costs, risk, and frustration. Whether implementing GPS tracking or E-Log solutions for the first time or looking to switch providers, fleets can buy with confidence knowing that GPS Insight will tailor a solution to their needs. Who is your ideal customer?

Our ideal customer is a fleet with more than 3 trucks or trailers that struggles with high fuel and labor costs, fleet safety issues, inefficient dispatching methods, unreliable maintenance practices, and the need to be ELD compliant.

What one piece of advice would you give someone shopping for an ELD solution?

Go with a provider you trust to keep you compliant and serve as your partner in fleet management. The last thing you want is someone to sell you a bill of goods and not offer the support you need and expect.

What are best practices for driver adoption and implementation?

  • Having a culture of compliance and dedication and a person at the very top who believes that safety and compliance are interlinked is extremely important.
  • Having a person who culturally believes that compliance to the “Nth degree” is just as important as anything else in running a successful business. Making that transition is often a reflection of the ownership of the company right on down through the line.
  • Having that anchor person in the company that everybody knows they can turn to, who is technology proficient and understands the systems, is important to the success of it.
  • Our recommendation to any customer is do not wait. Start now. Get serious. We anticipate that the Q4 demand to adequately supply this technology with the training, support, and installation resources for between 2 and 3 million vehicles is going to be nothing short of a tidal wave.
