Reintroducing a podcast built for the people running freight today.
Boise, Idaho – March 24, 2025 – Truckstop.com, a freight technology company, has relaunched its podcast under a new name. Behind the Freight is the latest step in its ongoing commitment to providing carriers, brokers, and freight professionals with the tools, insights, and support they need to run better businesses.
The podcast was previously known as Freight Nation and hosted by Brent Hutto. After three years at the helm, Hutto passes the torch to the new co-hosts, Todd Waldron, Vice President of Carrier Experience, and John Howland, Director of Broker Sales. Together, Waldron and Howland bring over 40 years of industry experience.
Each episode features conversations with freight professionals on timely topics like market signals, fraud prevention, compliance, and day-to-day operations – the kind of real, ground-level stories that reflect what the industry is actually dealing with.
“Running a freight business can feel overwhelming. Rate swings, fraud risks, compliance updates. There’s plenty of talk in this industry, but genuine insight is hard to find,” said Waldron. “That’s why each week we focus on what is working right now, so listeners have timely, relevant information they can use to address business challenges.”
Every episode goes beyond the headlines. The focus is on connecting broader industry trends with the decisions people make every day, without losing sight of the human side of the business. That mirrors what Truckstop.com has always stood for. Serving this industry means showing up for the people in it, not just the freight they move.
“Understanding the market is one thing. Knowing how it affects daily operations is another,” said Howland. “By talking to people involved in freight operations, we get insights that help listeners prepare for what’s coming.”
The debut episode, “Why Trucking Is About People, Not Just Freight (And Why That’s More Profitable),” brings the transition full circle. Hutto joins Waldron and Howland to reflect on how relationships have shaped his career, why carriers remain the industry’s backbone, and how regulatory changes often trigger major market shifts.
The launch comes ahead of the Mid-America Trucking Show, where Truckstop.com is a sponsor. Waldron and Howland will record three live episodes at the booth during the show. Those heading to the show can catch the live recordings at booth #16160.
