Trans4Cast Week 31: MDI Increases; Load Availability Slight Decrease

Total MDI: Up 0.4 points from the previous week

The MDI is a measure of relative truck demand in the spot market. It compares load availability to truck availability.

The MDI for Total equipment increased 0.4 points in the latest week to 32.0, an increase of 1.2%. Compared to last year, the MDI is up 19.5 points, or 155.4%. Over the last 4 weeks it has averaged an increase of 1.0 points. According to the Market Outlook from FTR, we should expect to see MDI average an increase of 0.6 points over the next four weeks.

Week 31 T4C Rates

Total Rates: Up 1.1% from the previous week

Total equipment Rates posted on Truckstop.com increased 1.1% in the latest week to $2.22.  Compared to last year Rates are up 18.6%. According to the Market Outlook from FTR we should expect to see Rates average a gain of 0.2% per week over the next four weeks.

Load Availability: Decreased 0.2% from the previous week

Load Availability for Total equipment on Truckstop.com decreased 0.2% in the latest week to an index value of 118.6. Compared to last year Availability is up 76.9%. Over the last 4 weeks Availability has averaged an increase of 7.66%.
